When air enters the filter, the woven polyester pre-filter removes larger airborne particles, such as dust, so they cannot clog the filter. The air then passes over the carbon bed, where volatile chemical compounds are absorbed by the virgin activated carbon. By neutralising airborne chemical compounds, the carbon destroys odours created by pungent plants before the air is extracted.
